CyberSQUAD is back! After a successful second edition in the summer of 2023, the best cybersecurity event in The Netherlands fully dedicated to young professionals will return to The Hague next summer. CyberSQUAD24 will be bigger, better, and bolder, so bring your friends and colleagues!

The non-profit foundations Connect2Trust, DIVD Academy and Jong-PvIB are once again inviting their networks and all alumni and 2024 students of the International Cyber Security Summer School (ICSSS) for an afternoon of knowledge sessions, meet-and-greets with thought leaders, cyber challenges and fun. Tickets are available via the link below. Stay tuned to find out more about the programme, venues, and of course the names of our speakers.

ABOUT CYBERSQUAD

CyberSQUAD brings together students and alumni from summer schools, volunteers and cyberprofessionals in the early days of their careers to foster a network of the next generation CISOs, CTOs and CIOs. The CyberSQUAD summer event is a yearly cybersecurity event for young professionals that consists of 2 parts. The afternoon event (13:00 – 17:00) aims to make learning about cybersecurity fun and easy for everyone and the evening event fosters a community of enthousiastic cybersecurity professionals in the early stages of their career. Traditionally, the evening (18:00 – 23:00) is also the battlefield of the Capture-the-Flag challenge. This year with even more and bigger teams.

NEW this year are the CyberSQUAD evening events. Smaller scale events for the community to discuss relevant developments in the field of cybersecurity and meet up with peers.

Bio Tondan Avé

Tondan Avé studied Mechanical Engineering (BSc) and Management of Technology (MSc) at TU Delft. While studying, he founded and ran a food truck with his brother for many years. After studies, he worked for a while as an IT consultant at Accenture.

He is currently working for KLM as a business & tech management trainee, where for two years he will fulfill a different role within the company every 6 months. In the first assignment, under the supervision of Tako Huisman, he researched the threat of quantum computers t.v. data security for Air France-KLM. Tondan loves to travel, has been training kung-fu for years and in his spare time is involved in creative hobbies such as cooking and leatherworking.


Bio Tako Huisman

Tako Huisman born in Enschede and after my high school left for Amsterdam to study biology, after the study I got my PhD in Molecular Microbiology. Genetic manipulation with viruses and bacteria. Then retrained in IT and after a few years ended up at KLM. Had several roles of which the last two within IT as manager data center KLM and now 4 years as deputy CISO for Air France KLM. With great pleasure I now work 24 years for KLM and a large part of that with Air France. Currently member of the aviation and multinational ISAC, Connect2trust and member of the advisory board of the Hogeschool van Utrecht.


Bio Dan Jones

Dan has recently joined Tanium as Senior Security Advisor in EMEA following a long and distinguished career with the Ministry of Defence, where since 2016 he has led the development and delivery of enterprise scale defensive cyber security services for the UK Armed Forces.


Bio Arnaud de Vibraye

Arnaud de Vibraye is Manager for Skills and Human Factors at the European Cyber Security Organisation, in the Working Group to develop a European cyber security education & skills ecosystem. As part of ECSO’s mission to strengthen the digital strategic autonomy of Europe and a educate professionals and citizens, he manages the European Cyber Recruitment Initiative to boost the recruitment process, monitors EU policies and initiatives on skills, and contributes to the creation and launch of the platform Road2Cyber to encourage career paths in the field and increase workforce in Europe.

Associate Director Security & Trust at Plat4mation

Carel leads the Security & Trust practice at Plat4mation, a pure-play ServiceNow Elite partner, guiding organizations on their digital transformation journey with the Now® platform. As strategic advisor, Carel knows Integrated Risk Management, Cyber Security and Privacy inside out.


Bio Dylan Veerman

Global Practice Lead – Data Consulting at Plat4mation 

Dylan leads the Data Management capability at Plat4mation, a pure-play ServiceNow Elite partner, advising customers globally on how to manage and improve their data strategy. He’s an expert when it comes to building and leading the right data foundation in ServiceNow.


Bio Saïda van Kalsbeek

Program Manager Cybersecurity, Municipality of The Hague

Saida is an entrepreneurial cyber security professional. Her journey within this exciting business started almost 10 years ago with what is today one of the largest bug bounty platforms, HackerOne. Here she has been instrumental in helping grow the European network and business. After this great adventure Saida moved on into the entrepreneurial world by running a start-up herself, advising new entrepreneurs and helping others with their business strategies.

Because of her deeper interest into the public domain, she chartered new waters by joining the Dutch National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) in 2019. Here she was among other things responsible for collaboration with several critical infrastructure sectors, CERTs, public sector and the National Response Network. Currently Saida is working for the Municipality of The Hague where her scope of responsibilities ranges from subjects as innovation, collaboration, knowledge sharing and internationalization, to continue into acquisition, cyber resilience for SME’s and up to talent.

With her extensive experience and large international network, she was one of the initiators of the Dutch chapter of Women4Cybersecurity. She is very passionate in not only remaining a lifelong learner, but also sharing her knowledge and experiences with others to help them grow.

Saida holds a Bachelor’s Degree in European Studies, Master’s Degree in Political Communication and a Master’s Degree in Crisis and Security Management.


Bio Kimberley Telussa

Kimberley Telussa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from Leiden University and a Master’s degree in Intervention Criminology from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She gained initial experience working briefly with the police as part of a student work program. Currently, Kimberley is a trainee at the Municipality of The Hague, where she is engaged in a two-year personal leadership development program, undertaking three different roles.

In her first role at the Cyber Security Week in The Hague, including the ONE Conference, Kimberley developed a passion for cyber security. Noticing a lack of diversity in the field, she co-founded the Dutch chapter of Women4Cyber with like-minded individuals, striving to promote inclusivity within the cyber security community.


Bio Marc Simons

Marc Simons is a self-employed electronics engineer in Eindhoven (Netherlands). After studying electronics at the Polytechnic University of Eindhoven, he worked for several companies in the field of surveillance and security, before founding his own company at the beginning of the century, in January 2000. He has since specialised in the development of analog electronics and embedded platforms and sensors for agricultural applications.

In 2003 he co-founded the virtual Crypto Museum, which has since received international recognition. Crypto Museum has a physical collection of historical cipher machines and equipment for espionage, that is available on-line through its website. It is the goal to analyse, describe and restore as much of the equipment as possible, and share this information with the public.


Bio Paul Reuvers

Paul Reuvers is a self-employed electronics engineer in Eindhoven (Netherlands). He has since specialised in the development of embedded software for a variety of applications, including agricultural platforms and sensors.

Bio Thierry Marchand

Thierry Marchand is Public Policy and Government Relations Manager at TikTok for the Netherlands and Luxembourg. He is the first point of contact for governments, politicians and NGO on topics such as security, privacy, online wellbeing and safety, culture and economic impact of TikTok. He is involved with new legislation and policy developments, but also compliance and public campaigns that happen on TikTok. Next to this, Thierry is also the spokesperson for TikTok in the Netherlands. He has a background in international relations and politics and has been working in the tech policy field for over 7 years now.


Bio Adrian Taylor

Adrian Taylor | Palo Alto Networks, Unit 42 | Senior Director, Incident Response 

Leading the EMEA Incident Response team at Palo Alto Networks Unit 42, Adrian has a career of building agile and resilient security teams that help organisations improve how they detect and respond to security incidents. Known for his innovative, empathic and human-centred approach, Adrian bridges the technical and cultural aspects of cyber to help enterprise-scale organisations transform their cyber capabilities.

The event is invite-only by the co-organizers Connect2Trust, DIVD Academy and Jong-PvIB. We also warmly welcome referrals to register for the event.

How can I register for the event?

Registration will be possible through Eventbrite via https://cybersquad24-registration.eventbrite.nl

Can I register separately for the afternoon and the evening?

Yes, on the registration page you can select which parts of the event you will be attending (afternoon or evening). We encourage everyone to attend both.

Privacy

I don’t like to be photographed or filmed. How can I communicate my preferences?

During the registration process, you will be asked if you have any objections against being photographed or filmed. In case you have any objections, your nametag will indicate your preferences to the on-site professionals. They will do their best to keep you out of any footage. After the event, all footage will be edited and in the case you are in a photo or video it will be adjusted or deleted.

For what purposes will the photos and aftermovie be used?

With CyberSQUAD, we are building the next generation of CISOs, CIOs and CTOs. That requires constant engagement with the community. Photos of the event and the aftermovie will be used on social media and the Connect2Trust website for promotional purposes. The predominant social medium used by Connect2Trust to communicate about CyberSQUAD is LinkedIn via the C2T corporate account and the “CyberSQUAD community” page. In addition, footage may be used on the website for people to get an impression of the 2023 event. The used footage will give an impression of the day and not single out one or a few attendees.

Other

Will the event be recorded?

No, the event is in-person only and no live video connection and/or recordings will be made. Only a few shots will be made for the aftermovie.

What will be the main language of the event?

CyberSQUAD is in English. We strive to bring together all young professionals in the Netherlands, regardless of their mother tongue.

Is the event free of charge?

Yes, attending CyberSQUAD is completely free of charge. There is a no-show fee of € 10,-

What is the CyberSQUAD community?

CyberSQUAD is bringing together the next generation of CISO’s, CIO’s and CTO’s. Together, we are building a community that will last for years. That is what CyberSQUAD is all about. Join the SQUAD and become part of the community!
